Groove Agent SE Getting Started V3 in Cubase

hello everybody Andrew Blake from thedigital audiom manual.com today we'removing on to our third video as we talkabout getting started with the grooveagent SE in cuase but before we start Iwant to remind you that there's a linkbelow to the content navigation guidewhich is an easy to navigate web pagewith links to all the content on thischannel and besides that in the nearfuture I'm going to begin adding tipsand other bits of information that willonly be available there if you'reworking with programs like wave laab orqbas plugins or the guys shaper box andmany many other projects that are in theworks then I know you're going to findjust like I have that this is aninvaluable study Aid and the other thingI want to make sure you understand isthat this is not a simple PDF this is aconstantly updated page that has anyinformation that is new or anytimevideos are changed really anythingupdated and once you have it you willalways have the latest informationconstantly updated so if you haven'tgotten it already go to the link belowclick on it and save it to yourfavorites it's my gift to you okay solet's get started so whenever you openup a predefined kid and groove agent ifyou're on this pattern tab you're goingto see these different colored patternsalready created for you if you click onany one of them you're going to hear thesounds and in this case these greenones are introductions these red onesareendings these kind of yellow ones arejust the standardpattern and then up on top these blueones arefills so the first question we're askingtoday is where do these actually comefrom can we make our own what can we dowith these so let's examine that startby doing like I've done before rightclick on a pad say select all the padshit my delete key now when I click onany pad I have no sound because it'sjust an empty pad notice anytime I clickon a pad it's surrounded by this yellowborder I'm going to go to this veryfirst pad I'm going to go back up intomy style player in the middle make sureit says style I'm going to go to thedrop- down list which allows me to loadin a predefined style I'm going to takeany one of these just double click on itand the minute that's loaded in there itcan now be played with thispad and any changes that I make in thestyle player are going to be reflectedwhat's on this pad if I go ahead and hitthe play button up here and then I startchanging these options around it'llchange what's being played on that padnow before I start I'm going to set up afew more pads and you can copy pads thesame way you do most things in qbasehold your ALT key click on it drag itand you get another pad with that samepattern do that to four of these padsand I'm going to go back to the firstone and for this example the first oneI'm going to do is build an intro so Ihave on my little wheel here fouroptions for an intro number one two 3 4I'm going to hit number one hit thepad if I don't like that I can go tonumbertwo let's try numberfour I'm going to stay with that once wehave a pattern on this pad that we likecan right click on the pad go to renamethe pad we'll call this an intro you cancontinue to right click click and changethe color colors can be anything youwant I'm just going to take color onelet's do something to the second pad I'mgoing to take this to the mainoption I'm going to right click renameit call it main right click set thecolor let's go to this next pad let'sput a fill on this one right click on itrename it to fill set a color and thenlet's go to our last pad go to one ofthese endings right click rename it toending and set the color and now we haveour fourpads[Music]as long as we stay on this style optionwe can continue to update these orchange these to something else includingthe variations for example if I go backto my main pad playit maybe I want to change the complexityon that so I move thecomplexity maybe I go to this introchange this to a different intro go tomy ending change that to a differentending and now all the these pads willreflect that the intro will be one thingthe main will be another The Fill or theending when it comes to performing orrecording your groove agent you havequite a few different options we'regoing to dig into those as we go butbasically if you have a midi keyboardhooked up in each pad there's a letterin this case it says c0 or C sh0 if Ihit those keys on mykeyboard then I can play the midi partright into my project if I start torecord and I hit thekeyboardthen those midi notes will play those[Music]patterns of course you could just aseasily draw those in or change themhowever you want but one thing you'regoing to see as we go along with Grooveagent the amount of drag and dropoptions I can only tell you there are alot and one of the main ones we can dois just take any pattern and drag thatright into the project which allows usto then play that pattern right in our[Music]project once youve drag the pattern intoyour project remember that you can comeover to your drum map settings create adrum map from the instrument and thatallows you to open your pattern up inthe drum editor ready to edit and whenyou're in the drum editor you canactually see your instruments up here Ihave the kick the snare the high hat Ican change these instruments if I wantchange the snare to a clap play thispattern maybe I want to change the kickaround a littlebit in essence create a whole differentpattern or customize it the way I want Ican continue now to play that pattern inmyproject but like we said Groove agent issuch a drag and drop program I'm goingto right click on all these pads againand delete them I can now take thispattern that I created or updated orwhatever I did to it and I can drag thisright back on the groove agent and now Ihave my pattern with the claps insteadof the snare drum and the updated Kick[Music]Drum you're going to find there are manymany ways to customize your sounds andpatterns in Groove agent and that'sgoing to wrap it up for today as alwaysif you haven't already be sure to grabyour copy of the digital audio manualcontent navigation guide from the linkbelow this video it's a faster betterway to learn and review pick it up lookit over all the different topics thatare gathered there and then you twoo canget started on your path through abetter way to learn all this stuff todaywe looked at defining the sections welearned how to load things onto a pad wehow we can alt drag pads to copy themcreate style patterns on those pads rename them change the color update thepads later saw how we can play the padswith a midi keyboard drag the patternsonto the project editing the patterns inthe drum editor and then we can returnthe patterns right back into Grooveagent again and we're going to continueto explore all these different featuresand functions and groove agent and qbasein general as always it's great to haveyou guys here and I'll see you on thenextvideo
